Queer & Proud Art Exhibition: A Celebration of Lesbian Visibility

As part of Lesbian Visibility Week, the SF LGBT Center is teaming up with the Cure Foundation to host an art-flled community celebration. Queer & Proud Art Exhibition: A Celebration of Lesbian Visibility features three art exhibitions in celebration of Lesbian Visibility Week.

The Center’s main gallery will feature “Through the Lens:
SF ‘90s Lesbian Culture” a captivating collection showcases powerful work by Curve magazine photographers during San Francisco’s vibrant ‘90s. Their lenses captured the era’s energy, highlighting lively Club Q party-goers, a rare glimpse of a young Rachel Maddow and beautifully rendered black and white figures.
The second art exhibition features the winning submissions from the 2025 Curve Photo Contest, celebrating lesbian photography’s continued legacy.
The third exhibition features local artist Tanya Wischerath’s “Living Lesbian Legends.” Commissioned by the Castro LGBTQ Cultural District, Wischerath’s paintings feature lesbians and queer women who have played a significant role to the Castro and San Francisco.
