An evening with Ho Kwon Ping on allyship, civic engagement, and belonging—exploring how individuals shape a more inclusive Singapore.
About this Event

For this edition of The Storyteller Series, we are honoured to welcome Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, Executive Chairman of the Banyan Group and founding Chairman of the Singapore Management University. Mr. Ho will be in conversation with Clarence Singam and Rachel Yeo, ExCo members of Proud Spaces.  Together, they will explore the intersections of allyship and civic participation.

Drawing from Mr. Ho's personal journey—from his early experiences with political activism to his continued leadership in business and engagement with public discourse and civil society—the conversation will reflect on how convictions evolve over time, and what responsibilities individuals have in shaping a more inclusive society.

The discussion will use LGBTQIA+ issues as a starting point and can explore allyship as a lens through which to examine broader questions of solidarity and social responsibility.

About Ho Kwon Ping:

Ho Kwon Ping is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Banyan Group. He is also the Founding Chairman of Singapore Management University (SMU), where he played a pivotal role in shaping one of Singapore's leading universities.

Beyond business, Ho Kwon Ping has long been a longstanding ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. He has spoken publicly in support of equality and was a Lead Signatory backing the repeal of Section 377A through the Ready4Repeal movement.
