Celebrate the work of Melissa Wilkinson at Goodall Gallery. .
Made with mostly watercolor on paper, Wilkinson's paintings "source images from Hollywood's golden era, late 70’s/early 80’s tomboys, heartthrobs, disco, and private Tumblr accounts." These evocative works are layered with narratives extracted from the artist's experience of identity. The careful application of paint and detail marks a significance in the push and pull of both material and the self. These playful hybrids manage to scrutinize the binary through a veil of beauty and glam.
