❄️QUEEN OF WINTER ❄️
A WINTER WEAVING GATHERING
As the nights draw in and the world settles into winter, we turn towards Beira, Scotland’s Queen of Winter, the great Cailleach who belongs to the darker half of the year.
She is a figure of rugged landscapes, winter storms, age-old wisdom and the strength found in the stillness of the land.
On Friday 4th December, we’re gathering to explore her through a different kind of creativity.
Using tiny handheld looms, natural fibres, wool, twigs, lichen and other earthy treasures, we’ll create our own rugged winter weavings, allowing the materials, textures and colours of the season to guide us.
There’s something lovely about working with your hands, bringing together things that might otherwise be overlooked and creating something entirely your own. No two weavings will be alike, and there’s no need to have any previous experience.
This is an evening to get creative, connect with the season and spend a little time with the energy of the Crone, whose wisdom reminds us that winter has its own beauty, its own purpose and its own gifts.
We’ll gather by the woodstove in a relaxed, informal space, with all materials provided. Just bring yourself and a willingness to play, explore and see what emerges.
