Whether you live, work, study, or worship in Oakland Mills, your voice matters. Join the Anti-Racist Education Alliance Inc. (AREA) to shape two incredible new local initiatives and brainstorm what comes next.

• Who: All ages welcome! (Neighbors, students, families, faith leaders, and local workers)

6:30 PM – 6:45 PM | Welcome & Planting the Seeds

• Gather, grab a seat, and connect with fellow neighbors.
• Opening remarks and introduction to AREA’s mission.

6:45 PM – 7:05 PM | The Big Reveal: Two New Initiatives

• The Mutual Aid Tutoring Program: Bridging the gap between Oakland Mills HS and Talbot Springs ES students.
• The Stevens Forest Community Garden: A green space tended by the community, for the community.

7:05 PM – 7:35 PM | Greenhouse Discussions (Feedback Circles)

• Breakout sessions to share your thoughts on the tutoring and garden programs.
• Warm Feedback: What do you love? What excites you?
• Cool Feedback: What are your questions? What can we improve?

7:35 PM – 8:05 PM | Dream Big: Neighborhood Brainstorm

• An open-floor workshop to pitch your ideas for future anti-racist initiatives and programming in Oakland Mills.
• Let’s figure out how AREA can partner with you to make these dreams a reality.

8:05 PM – 8:30 PM | Next Steps & Closing

Summarizing our collective ideas and laying out the action plan for moving forward together
