Annual trip to the island again. 2 nights 3 days. Head over on the ferry in the morning of the 8th and return on the 10th in the afternoon. Accomodation has gone up slightly due to loosing funding. Cost is per night.
adults: $40
Uni students: $30
Kids: $20
Under 5 free
Boat ride is return. Leaving at 12 moon on the 8th and return 3:35pm on the 10th
Adults: $25
Children’s: $20
To keep cost down for some families some people paddled kayaks over which gave us more kayaks for having fun on. I most likely will be kayaking across myself and happy to have other people or older kids kayak with me.
Food is organised by each family. Which has worked well other years. There are good fridges and freezers there.
Previous trips we have kayaked round the island, does a treasure hunt, some of the kids have made bivy and slept night in them and fishing of jetty or from kayaks if fun as well. Snorkelling gear might be fun to bring as well. Accomodation is doc bunk style.
Travel across the water to explore lush regenerating native forest, encounter Otago’s distinctive wildlife, and enjoy stunning views. Rich in history, QIKT is thought to be a key gathering spot for Southern Māori and was a haven for early European settlers. It is a public recreation reserve and historic area, and lies within the takiwa of Te Runaka ō Otakou.
