QCC Common Read Event - In Person Only

King of the Armadillos: Book Talk and Q&A with Author Wendy Chin-Tanner

Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at `12:00pm EDT (2 hours)

Location: QCC Science Building, Room S-111

Join author Wendy Chin-Tanner, author of this year's Queensborough Community College (QCC) Common Read selection, King of the Armadillos, for a conversation with QCC's campus community. Chin-Tanner will discuss her motivation and inspiration for writing the novel; what she hopes readers take away from the book; and why it is important to read and write literature in today's society. Chin-Tanner will also give a reading from the novel and take questions from the audience during the session.

QCC's Common Read/Common Intellectual Experience (CIE) is one of the College's High-Impact Teaching Practices that integrates cross-disciplinary events in support of a campus-wide, shared reading of a selected text. Students enrolled in classes across the disciplines read the same text, as well as discuss and complete assignments related to the book during the spring semester. The Common Read culminates in a series of programs where students attend events with their peers from other classes across campus, as well as to learn how other disciplines have approached the text. These events provide participating faculty and students additional opportunities to engage socially and academically across the campus, while supporting the learning in each individual class. This author talk is organized by QCC's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and made possible through funding from the Harriet & Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Center.

**To attend in person: The event is open to the general public, but registration ahead of time is required and visitors must show ID upon entering the campus at Queensborough Community College (QCC). For directions to QCC’s campus, please visit https://www.qcc.cuny.edu/about/index.html#gettingHere.

Please note this event is being held in QCC's Science Building and not at the KHC. For a campus map, please visit: https://www.qcc.cuny.edu/map/index.html
