Join us at House of Art for a laid back Q&A with Hull-based artist Matt Tanner, led by Owner and Head Curator Emma Richardson. Enjoy this opportunity to learn more about Tanner and his work, particularly how his background in construction, architecture, repair, and customization influence and inspire his mixed media creations.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Featuring over 30 new original works from Tanner, spanning sculpture and assorted forms of mixed media, All Encompassing is a must-see exhibition for art lovers across the South Shore. Particularly representative of Tanner's work, his resin sealed mixed media paintings, built with layers of found material, paints, and marker, will be showcased at this exhibition. Matt’s work puts his talents in construction, architecture, repair, and customization on full view, as each piece shows a facet of who he is. A true creative, Tanner is happiest in his studio customizing a skateboard for his son or creating a custom fiberglass frame for an old fashioned motorcycle in his living room. His passion is unbridled and spans many mediums —Tanner utilizes oils, posca markers, and acrylics in his markmaking, another hallmark of his fine art.
ABOUT MATT TANNER
For over four decades, Boston‑area artist Matt Tanner has built a multidisciplinary practice rooted in painting, sculpture, and drawing. His work often moves beyond traditional formats, taking shape on functional objects such as hand‑crafted surfboards, skateboards, and ramps. He also creates streetwear and custom skateboard graphics for Ready Amongst Willing and RAW New England, merging fine art with lived culture and utility. He earned his BFA in painting at SUNY New Paltz.
