We go off-piste again, swapping the slopes for the pavement, for Easter’s annual ByPåskefestivalen. Both floors get a heady workout with a long line of residents and guests shaking the foundations, from the heart of the city. Finnebassen returns to the Bypåske lineup for this addition of Frædag featuring Midland, Øyvind Morken and g-HA & Olanskii. A long time ago in this very “by” Finnebassen used to be the star of the Good Friday sacrificing the lamb as the pre-amble to his DJ sets with Skrangle Jazz. This time Midland and Øyvind Morken co-op the basement as the kindred spirits reconnect in the booth.

Midland
Midland is a DJ, Producer and Record label owner from London. Through his productions, DJ sets and record labels, Midland’s output comes across as unassuming and surprising in equal measure, at once subtle, refined and totally raucous. Midland’s production style has nimbly evolved from one record to the next. For all of these efforts he has received a steady stream of accolades, but it’s possible he’s made his biggest impact with the other side of his craft: DJing. Delivering his kaleidoscopic taste with a mixing technique that nods as much to his British lineage as it does to a smoother European style, he has distinguished himself with sets as classy as they are utterly party rocking.
g-HA & Olanskii
Two pivotal bodies in the sphere of Norwegian electronic music, g-HA & Olanskii are an event, a club, a DJ duo, and a musical authority for Norway. Individually adept as DJ, selectors and tastemaker, Ola “Olanskii” Smith-Simonsen and Geir “g-HA” Holger’s musical voices unified for Sunkissed, an events series that has become the backbone of Oslo’s electronic music scene and beyond.
Øyvind Morken
Oslo`s Øyvind Morken (pronounced Oy-vind) has a unique ability to play everything from A to Z of what genres concern. Working the dance floor in the most unexpected ways. For the last nine years he has held down a residency at Jaeger. Eight of them weekly under the Untzdag banner, a wordplay for Onsdag, Norwegian for Wednesday. It became an institution in Oslo. Drawing in a crowd of open-minded party freaks for nights of wild abandon, and where musical diversity and self-expression was encouraged.
Finnebassen
Leaving his teenage genre hopping days behind him, 2008 saw a house music epiphany, as a deep rooted interest in electronic music began, bringing Finnebassen to the sound he relays today. Although he has been producing music and playing gigs in his hometown of Oslo for a long time, 2012 saw his first releases, which gained huge support and landed him at the top of the beatport charts. You will regularly find Finnebassen touring the world; he has played to crowds from Europe to Asia, and Australia to the USA.
