Putting Food By and Other Revolutionary Acts

You're warmly invited to join us for an enriching weekend of traditional food preservation and other sustainable activities. Dive into the art of canning, preserving apples, seed-saving, mead-making, fermentation, herbal vinegars, root cellars, primitive storage, growing lavender in Appalachia, and more! Stay tuned for details on our expert teachers and class specifics!

Our weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon, but if you're spending the whole weekend with us, feel free to arrive anytime after 10:00 am on Friday, September 20. We'll provide supper on Friday, along with snacks and tea, but please bring your own lunch if you arrive early.

Meals are included with both general admission and day passes:

• Friday: Supper for weekend attendees
• Saturday: Breakfast, lunch, and supper
• Sunday: Breakfast and lunch

Saturday's supper will feature a special wild foods-themed meal.

Please note, we love pets but request you leave them at home for this event.

• Day Pass Saturday: $99 (includes three meals, four classes, and bonfire/drumming/storytelling)
• Day Pass Sunday: $75 (includes two meals and three classes)

• Two nights in Private Room (Queen Bed for 1-2 people) in Shared Cabin: $225
• Two nights in Twin Bed in Shared Loft in Shared Cabin: $100

The farm, Randall Glen, is our next door neighbor, and you’ll drive through their farm to get to Spiral Mountain. Randall Glen has a big red barn house and lots of animals. You cannot miss them. The dirt road is tiny, and it has twists and turns that Google won’t tell you about. The following is the easiest way to get here: After you turn on Surrett Cove Rd, follow signs for Randall Glen all the way up the hill. Be sure to stay to your right at the sign that says “22 Reems.” Continue driving up the hill. Then, you’ll drive through an opened gate and into the Randall Glen farm. At the top of the hill after you pass through Randall Glen, there will be another gate. The gate says, “Welcome to Spiral Mountain.” Please come on in, but close the gate behind you! You’re almost here! The cabins of Spiral Mountain are just around the bend.

* From Asheville/Patton Ave.: Take 63 N/Leicester Hwy 13 miles to N. Turkey Creek Rd.

* Take a left on Turkey Creek Rd. and go 9.3 miles to Surrett Cove Rd. (Turkey Creek becomes Earlys Mountain Rd).

* Turn right on Surrett Cove Rd.

* Take slight left onto Randall Cove Rd.

* Go right at fork in the road at the sign "22 Reemes"

* Pass straight through a farm with livestock. Please go very slowly, walking speed, 5mph through the farm and up the hill passing through a red gate.

* You will come to a large metal gate that says, “Welcome to Spiral Mountain!” You have arrived! Please close the gate behind you so the cows don't get out!

* Keep going up the gravel road and around the fields.

* Go right at the fork to the cabins of Spiral Mountain!
