PURPLE CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL IS BACK IN 2025
We are so excited to announce the return of Purple City Music Festival on the weekend of FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5th - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th 2025
About the festival:
The Purple City 2025 lineup packs a punch, with over 90 artists from all across North America bringing a diversity of underground sounds to the heart of downtown Edmonton.
Headliners include Los Angeles’s psych-rock heavyweights Wand , the goth-tinged surf sounds of L.A. WITCH, high energy New York-based garage punk quintet The Mystery Lights, iconic Canadian punk rock pioneers D.O.A. band, riot grrrl-inspired queer punks from North Carolina Babe Haven , Montreal techno powerhouse Marie Davidson and New York metalcore legends Freya NYHC (featuring members of Earth Crisis).
This year’s first wave also features Seattle garage rockers Acid Tongue, the return of EBM enigma Kontravoid, Philadelphia’s genre-warping avant pop/electro-punk siren UNIITY, Los Angeles fierce femme shoegazer Taleen Kali the dark electro of NYC’s NUXX and the heavy darkwave of Arizona’s Meldamor.
Rounding out this year’s massive pool of home-grown talent are rare performances from local legends Faunts and The James T. Kirks a nostalgic nod to Edmonton’s rich musical history.
Also included are buzzing Canadian artists: Devours, WAIT//LESS, Shiv And The Carvers, and Slash Need.
Newly announced headliners include fuzz‐drenched modern psych from Boston’s Magic Shoppe experimental electro‐punk from New York City’s Jehova's Princess, supercharged garage punk from Montréal’s DVTR, the icy darkwave dreamscapes from Los Angeles’s Hallows and goth inspired postpunk from NYC’s Clone.
This year will also see the return of a few of Purple City’s favourites, the politically charged hardcore punk of Austin’s Bondbreakr and the blackened doomgaze sounds of Guelph's Bonnie Trash.
The 2025 edition continues to shine a spotlight on Alberta’s finest, with local Edmonton favourites Whitey Houston, False Body, Real Sickies, Colleen Brown and Amy Van Keekan, The Bobby Tenderloin Universe and Field + Stream alongside Calgary’s Kue Varo & The Only Hopes, jazz inspired Hip Hop of The Blue egg-punk darlings Dial Up, nd introspective psych pop from Brock Gieger.

The Block Party returns once again, with live music and 2 days of wrestling by Love Wrestling
Also, a new addition is Talk City, a free music industry conference with panels, workshops, and networking focused on equity and sustainability.
