The Town of Purcellville is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted to participate in the annual Purcellville Independence Day Parade. Participation is free, and the parade will kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27. This year’s theme, “Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom,” invites participants to show their patriotic pride as our country celebrates this historic milestone. Those interested in participating must complete the online application by Monday, June 15 at: https://purcellvilleva.gov/1032/Independence-Day-Parade. Additional details and participation rules are included within the application.
The Purcellville Business Association will once again host the parade float contest, with awards for Best Presentation of Theme, Most Unique/Best Craftsmanship/Enthusiasm, and Best Overall. Participants are asked to clearly identify their float with a sign or banner on the front or passenger side that lists the name of their group so judges can easily recognize it along the route. Judges will be stationed in front of Bridge’s Auto Center, located at 118 E Main Street.
The route is approximately 2.5 miles long, beginning at Blue Ridge Middle School, proceeding right onto A Street, right onto 20th Street, right on Main Street, right onto Maple Avenue, and right onto A Street before returning to Blue Ridge Middle School.
