Punties & Gathers: Glassblowing Bootcamp with Malcolm Kriegel

Step up your glassblowing skills in this high-energy bootcamp focused on the fundamentals of punties and gathering. This class is all about practice, precision, and perfecting the techniques that make your work shine. You'll tackle drills designed to help you nail those perfect punties and pull clean, consistent gathers. It's the ultimate workout for your glassblowing muscles—so get ready to sweat, learn, and have a blast!

What to Expect: Students will work together and learn to manipulate molten glass (2000 degrees). Safety and tools will all be covered in a fun and exciting environment. As this is a drill based class, do not expect to create complete works.  The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm.  Glassblowing involves a variety of activities including sitting, standing, and working with hot glass. The environment can be very hot and loud at times. Handling glass and tools may require a certain level of dexterity and ability to lift 5-10 lbs approximately. Eligibility: No previous experience necessary. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: As this is a drill based class, do not expect to create complete works that would need to be picked up.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
