About this Event
Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal
Come join us at Fulton Street Books & Coffee for a book talk with Dr. Bettina Love as she will use her text to contextualize the past while also addressing the current state of education. Dr. Love delves into educational reparations for Black students to heal the transgressions of the past, which intimately connects with Tulsa’s tragic history and its contentious present as the fight for reparations remains an ongoing struggle. In addition to this book talk, Dr. Stevie "View" Johnson will engage with artists Am're Ford, KO, and Jacobi Ryan to discuss their process of making music to supplement the topics presented in the text, and how music is another educational tool used to educate and liberate.
