Pumpkin Field Day and Demonstration

Pumpkin production in the Piedmont is on the rise as a newer crop for farms. It makes a great addition to a farm engaged in agritourism as a fall festivity for people to enjoy or as a crop that can be sold in farm stands, to retailers and more. However, it can be a challenging crop to grow. Longer days to maturity than squash, cucumbers, and other cucurbit vegetables means more time for diseases to proliferate. During this field day you can expect to learn more about growing pumpkins in the Piedmont including talks on insect control, disease control, and an opportunity to see pumpkins in the field.
