Return to sport testing in ACL rehabilitation
Host: Dr. Victor Lugo Merle PT, DPT - Temple University
Info: A residency trained sports physical therapist, Dr. Victor Lugo will focus on returning to sport after an ACL injury which is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach to optimize outcomes and minimize reinjury risk. This presentation will cover objective assessment tools, including knee peak force strength testing and force plate data, to evaluate neuromuscular control and readiness. We will explore criteria-based progression models that integrate strength, biomechanics, and psychological factors, along with case studies to refine clinical decision-making. Additionally, the session will highlight interprofessional communication strategies to ensure seamless collaboration between physical therapists, strength coaches, and sports medicine professionals for a successful RTS transition.
🕑: 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Eating Disorders in Athletes
Host: Kerrin Meseck MS, RD, CSSD, LDN - Duke University
Info: From Cornell University to Boston University and now Duke University, Kerrin Meseck will discuss the risk factors and health consequences of eating disorders in athletes, including sport-specific pressures, weight-class requirements, and energy availability concerns. The session will explore the spectrum of disordered eating behaviors and how sport environments may normalize harmful nutritional practices. Emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, it will highlight the roles of sports dietitians, physicians, mental health professionals, coaches, and strength staff. Case studies will illustrate best practices for screening, intervention, and athlete support to promote health, performance, and recovery.

Building Better Athletes: How to Assess, Bucket & Train Youth Athletes
Host: Jordan Collins M.Ed., CSCS - DBC Fitness
Info: This presentation will cover the performance assessment process used when onboarding athletes, utilizing force plates (Force Decks) and the 1080 Sprint system to evaluate neuromuscular function, sprint mechanics, and force production. Based on assessment results, athletes are categorized into specific training groups ("buckets") to address their strengths and weaknesses. The session will also explore how these data-driven insights guide individualized training strategies to enhance performance and reduce injury risk. Attendees will gain practical knowledge on implementing assessment-driven programming for athletic development.

Fatigue Based Programming-Using Jump Performance to Determine Lifting Protocol
Host: Teofe Ziemnicki - Teambuildr
Info: This presentation will discuss how the Yale University strength staff applied principles from "Optimizing Strength Training: Designing Non-Linear Periodized Workouts" by Dr. Kraemer and Steven Fleck to develop daily lifting protocols based on jump performance. It will explore how real-time jump data is used to assess neuromuscular readiness and adjust training loads, optimizing strength gains while managing fatigue.
