Puente Hills Test Plot Community Planting Day

Join us on Saturday, February 8, from 9am-4pm, for a day of hands-on learning and community connection as we work with our Puente Hills Regional Park Youth@Work Cohort to install native planting at the Workman Mill Road Staging Area.

• Planting five plot areas with Californian native and climate-adaptive species from the Puente Hills Regional Park design.
• Learning and sharing ideas about native plants, community-led restoration initiatives, and the site’s future as a gateway into the Puente Hills Regional Park.

• Where: Workman Mill Road Staging Area, 3301 Workman Mill Road, South El Monte, CA 91733
• What To Bring: Gardening gloves, water, sun protection. Landscape tools and a limited supply of gloves will be provided.
• Who: Everyone is welcome! Children are encouraged to join with supervision.
• Parking: Spaces will be available on the north and south sides of Workman Mill Road.
• Refreshments will be available courtesy of the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation.

The event is made possible by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation in collaboration with Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis (First District), the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, Southern California Edison, Puente Hills Youth@Work Cohort, Studio-MLA, and Test Plot.

The Department of Parks and Recreation will also be hosting a general community design update for the Puente Hills Regional Park project on Saturday, February 8th from 10am-11am at the Hacienda Heights Community Center (1234 Valencia Ave, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745).
