About this Event
Join us for a panel discussion celebrating the launch of ‘There is nothing old under the sun,’ a special publication accompanying the eponymous exhibition by Steph Huang.
This English-Chinese bilingual publication invites readers into Huang’s visual explorations and conceptual journeys, centred on a mode of drifting. Through photography, Huang recaptures a sense of wonder in everyday life, expressing, "I feel that I have collected some fragments of the everyday world." The publication features images of Huang’s artworks and original photographs, complemented by writings from Xiaowen Zhu, Jo-Lene Ong, Ellen Mara De Wachter, and the artist. Designed by Huang’s frequent collaborator, Leslie Chang, ‘There is nothing old under the sun’ reveals narratives woven into the very fabric of making.
The discussion will bring together Steph Huang; Professor Allan Walker, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of the School of Arts, Media, and Creative Technology at the University of Salford; Stephanie Fletcher, Assistant Curator of the University of Salford Art Collection; and arts writer Ellen Mara De Wachter, with moderation by Jo-Lene Ong, Curator at esea contemporary.
Published by esea contemporary with generous support from the Henry Moore Foundation, Public Gallery, Arts Council England, and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, ‘There is nothing old under the sun' will be available for purchase, with signed copies offered at the event.
This event is free, but booking is recommended due to limited capacity.
