Public Tours

Guests: Members of the public, families, small groups (10 guests max.)
Duration: 1 hour-tour

Tours are geared towards children 9+ years, but everyone is welcome. Children must be accompanied by adults. If your group requires special accommodations, please check to book a tour.

Come visit the Canadian Light Source (CLS), Canada's only synchrotron research facility. During your on-site visit of the CLS, our tour guides will lead you through our history, how our machine works, and will tell you stories about how researchers have used our facility to conduct ground-breaking research in the fields of health, agriculture, the environment, and advanced materials.

When registering for this general public tour

• Provide your name, email and phone number
• Include the name of each attendee, if you are reserving tour tickets for others -- one ticket admits one person on the tour
• You will receive an Eventbrite email that confirms your booking. You won't have to print your tickets.

Arrival

Please review our parking information and arrive at CLS reception no more than 15 minutes before the beginning of your tour to check in. Due to building access restrictions, you may not be able to join the tour if you are late. Please follow our three simple house rules while you are at our facility.

Photography notice

You are welcome to take photos during the tour and tag us @canlightsource on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We may take promotional photography during the tour to be used for marketing purposes by the Canadian Light Source. If you would prefer not to have your photo taken or published, please let us know during the tour.

Tour cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel a tour.

Tours may be cancelled if current public health restrictions change. If you are currently exhibiting flu-like symptoms, including, but not limited to: fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or difficulty breathing, or if you have testing positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days, then please do not come to the CLS and reschedule your visit for another time.
