Public Meeting 1 - Northside Improvement District (BID) Proposal
About this Event
In October 2025, a Steering Committee of local residents, property owners, and business owners released a proposal to form a Business Improvement District (BID) in North Williamsburg, alongside a petition on whether or not this BID should be formed.
A Business Improvement District is a government-adjacent nonprofit which reinvests funds from real estate into public space sanitation and beautification within a clearly defined district. For almost all areas of growth in New York City, BIDs have been the mechanism to adapt to a greater number of people on the street, both visitors and residents. There are currently 78 BIDs in NYC.
Since the ballot's release, we have sent informative mailers to every address in the neighborhood, distributed flyers, phone banked, hosted community happy hours, business mixers, and cleanup events. Our "BID office hours" have also been open for booking 5 days a week.
These public meetings are an additional method for spreading accurate information to the Northside. If you have not engaged with any of our other events, tablings, or mailings, this is an opportunity for you to hear from our Steering Committee and Councilmember
