Public Landfill Tour
About this Event
Collection day is the first day in a long life for your trash. Join staff on a tour of the South Wake Landfill to find out how Wake County Waste Management Division safeguards the environment and public health by using modern day engineering practices and innovative technology to safely dispose of over 1.1 million people's garbage. On the tour, you will also discover:
- How municipal landfills are designed and operated
- Where you can recycle additional items, not picked up at the curb
- Where to dispose of harmful household items safely
- How to reduce waste at home, school or work
Please Note: Attendees must be age eight (8) years or older by the date of the tour (no exceptions). Each attendee is required to register. Attendees must electronically sign a waiver form during registration. If there are no seats remaining during registration, the tour is fully booked. There is an option to "Join the Waitlist". People who join the waitlist will be notified via email when a seat opens up. Joining the waitlist does not register you for a seat.
