St Mary’s County Recreation & Parks will host a public information gathering on a proposed Sports Complex planned for a location in the California, Maryland area. In February 2024, the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County and Maryland Stadium Authority, entered a Memorandum of Understanding to provide architectural and engineering services related to the potential development of a new sports complex. This new complex is anticipated to be comprised of an indoor facility approximately 100,000 – 135,000 sf, an outdoor facility on approximately 36 acres of land, and sufficient parking and support spaces.

We are excited to invite the community and other interested parties to this upcoming public input gathering. The purpose of this meeting is to allow the community to engage in meaningful discussions with the design team of Manns Woodward Studios of White Marsh Station, Maryland, and BallParchitecture of Bethesda, Maryland. All local citizens, other interested parties, and governmental agencies are requested to provide valuable input into the programing that would be potential for consideration for a sports complex in St. Mary's County. The study is a Maryland Stadium Authority led preliminary design project.
The meeting will be held in the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County (CSMC) Meeting Room (1st floor, Chesapeake Building, 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown) on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 5:30pm.
Additional public input opportunities will also be available online through surveys and additional gatherings will be scheduled during Spring 2025. Details and locations will be announced at a later date.
