About this Event

Public Art Walking Tour in Vancouver’s Eastside
Explore murals, street art, artist-run spaces, and unexpected creative work tucked throughout Strathcona and Railtown on this walking tour through Vancouver’s Eastside Arts District. Led by Vancouver artist Kate MacDonald, the tour looks at the neighbourhood through the lens of working artists, local history, and the many ways creativity appears in public space — from major commissioned works to sculptures, interventions, and DIY projects that often go unnoticed. Along the way we’ll discuss artists, architecture, community stories, and the cultural layers that continue to shape Vancouver’s most artistically active neighbourhood.

About the Artist:

Kate MacDonald is a Vancouver-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, digital collage, video, and public art. Her practice explores themes of place, memory, community, and visual culture through layered compositions informed by both natural and urban environments. Her work has been exhibited across North America and Europe, with paintings featured in publications including Wired and international editions of GQ.
Alongside her studio practice, Kate has developed public art projects and community-focused works that engage with local histories, shared spaces, and contemporary culture. She also collaborates with artist Les Sears under the name K8L35. Her work is rooted in Vancouver’s evolving cultural landscape and an ongoing interest in how art shapes the experience of place.
