Local author Tim Kindberg wrote 'Vampires of Avonmouth' following a trip to Accra, Ghana. Obayifa, the book’s main monster, is no ordinary vampire: she is African, and her lust is to consume your mind, not your blood. After reading from the book, Tim will talk about the Akan legend of the obayifo, upon which Obayifa is based; the adinkra symbols sprinkled throughout the text, with their fascinating meanings; and how the first ever psychic vampire in literature was Harriet Brandt in The Blood of the Vampire, which Florence Marryat published in 1897 - the same year as Dracula. And finally: how the book anticipates all of the evils now being perpetrated by Elon Musk.
