Psychedelic Medicine & Wellness Film Series - A Trip of Compassion
About this Event
An Evening of Wonder, Wellness & Cultivation in Hawaiʻi
Join us for the third installment of our 5-Part Psychedelic Medicine & Wellness Film Series as we screen A Trip of Compassion, a powerful documentary that follows the journey of individuals living with severe PTSD as they participate in MDMA-assisted therapy. The film offers an intimate look at the healing process, highlighting both the challenges of trauma recovery and the profound potential of compassionate, evidence-based psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
As rates of trauma, anxiety, depression, and disconnection continue to rise, this documentary provides a thoughtful exploration of how MDMA-assisted therapy is changing the conversation around mental health treatment. Through personal stories and clinical perspectives, viewers are invited to witness the transformative power of safety, trust, and human connection in the healing process.
Post-Film Community Dialogue
Following the film, we will hold a facilitated discussion that bridges lived experience and professional insight. We are honored to welcome Dawn Martin, LMHC, MAPS-Trained MDMA Therapist, who will share her experience working within the MAPS MDMA-Assisted Therapy training model and discuss the emerging role of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in trauma treatment.
Drawing from her clinical training and experience supporting individuals through trauma recovery and psychedelic integration, Dawn will explore:
- The foundations of the MAPS MDMA-assisted therapy protocol
- Why preparation and therapeutic rapport are critical to successful outcomes
- The importance of creating a safe, ethical, and trauma-informed container
- How integration supports lasting change long after a medicine experience has ended
- The current landscape and future of psychedelic-assisted therapies
Together, we will discuss the role of compassion, connection, and therapeutic support in healing trauma, while also examining the responsibilities and considerations involved in this work.
The evening will conclude with an interactive Q&A, offering attendees an opportunity to ask questions, deepen their understanding of MDMA-assisted therapy, and engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of mental health care and trauma recovery.
