The Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival is excited to team up with the beautiful, historic Old St. Luke's Church in Carnegie for a screening of Faces of Children (1925) (Visages d’enfants) directed by French filmmaker Jacques Feyder.
The program will feature Eric Cook and the Pittsburgh Film Orchestra accompanying the film on the church's historic organ, the first pipe organ brought west of the Allegheny Mountains.
Old St. Luke's is the oldest Episcopal Church west of the Alleghenies. Established in 1765 as a stockade church, Old Saint Luke’s has served the community as a religious institution and gathering place for over 250 years.
Faces of Children tells the story of a young boy whose mother has died and the resentments which develop when his father remarries. It was a notable example of film realism in the silent era, and its psychological drama was integrated with the natural landscapes of Switzerland where much of the film was made on location.
