Prête à Vivre: Leveling Up Your Taxes, Finances, and Living in Paris
About this Event
Join us in person for an informative event specially designed for Americans who have lived in Paris for 1-3 years and plan to stay.
Liberty Atlantic Advisors and Your Franceformation have partnered to invite you to join us and select speakers at La Volière, a stunning event space in the heart of the 8ème, located at 5 Rue d'Artois, 75008.
Join us for speaker presentations and in-depth Q&A before relaxing on the terrace and enjoying rooftop views of Paris.
There will be food and drink provided after the event, as well as ample opportunity to engage with the speakers and fellow attendees.
Why the "1-3 year" range?
Well, as you'll probably know firsthand, there is a lot that goes into planning a move to France, and the work doesn't stop after you've arrived.
But once you've settled in, filed a tax return or two, and gotten into your routine, other tasks that aren't immediately pressing can get pushed onto the "I'll get to that...eventually" backburner.
Until one day, you wake up a few years into your life in Paris and realize:
- Those France-related admin tasks you've been meaning to get to have been on hold for too long -- and you've got a government agency waiting for an answer or received a daunting email to prove it.
- "I think I'm done renting, it would be great to buy something..." except for one small problem: buying in Paris is very different from buying in the US.
- You'd like to make changes that impact your US finances, like selling a US rental, a business, or restructuring, but you don't know what the implications are of doing this from France.
- Managing US investments has become more challenging over time, particularly around things such as the address your bank has on file, trading abilities per your custodian's rules, or even your bank's ability to work with you.
- You're starting to think about inheritance and recently realized France feels like a really scary place to be the owner or beneficiary of a US trust -- but then you realize the US is obsessed with trusts, and there's no clear way to reconcile those facts.
This event will cover all of the above, with individual speakers at the forefront of their fields to share the most up-to-date information and answer questions.
