Protest the Barnstable County Fair's Exploitation of Animals
Advertisement
Please join local advocates and PETA supporters in speaking out against the exploitation of animals for 4H demos, petting zoos, and livestock shows at the Barnstable County Fair.
Animals are used, abused, and killed for these "attractions" each year. 4-H programs teach kids to raise animals, but at the end of the season, they must watch the animals they've bonded with and nurtured be sold off to the highest bidder, who typically take them to be slaughtered. "Fair animals" are commonly displayed for competition, but after the fair, many are sold for slaughter. The animals used in petting zoos are hauled around in tractor-trailers, confined to small pens and cages, and forced to interact with large crowds of people. They subject animals to the stress of transport, alien environments, irregular feeding and watering, mishandling, and crowds of strangers.
Protest details:
Where: Cape Cod Fairgrounds, 1220 Nathan Ellis Hwy, East Falmouth, MA 02536
When: Saturday, July 25, from 1-3 PM
Contact: Kelly at [email protected]
This will be a peaceful protest. All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary—just show up and stand up for animals.
Please refrain from bringing dogs, as there may not be shade or a safe place for them during the protest.
I hope you can join!
