Southern California families are struggling to keep the lights on, but Southern California Edison just reported $4.9 BILLION in profits due to profits on wildfires, perverse incentives that encourage utilities to overspend and unchecked corporate greed.While families fall behind on their bills, SCE’s profits surged by 200% in a single year, and executive pay jumped 20%.
At the same time:
→ 1 in 5 customers are $800+ behind on bills
→ Families pay an average of $650 per year just for investor profits
→ Communities are still dealing with the devastating impacts of utility-caused wildfires
It's time to end the madness and curb utility profits. Our state leaders must put families over utility profits.
