PROTECTION SPELLS: BIPOC Healing with the Elements & the Ancestors

In this workshop we will look at how to use the support of the elements (Earth, Air, Water, Fire, ) for our own energetic, spiritual protection & guidance.
This space is for healers, witches, magic makers, spiritual folks, people who feel emotionally/energetically/mentally depleted, folks who find solace in nature and with the elements. Through the arts - song, visual arts using pastels/felts/crayons, writing & working with the elements we will explore these topics and engage with our bodies' felt senses. We will share practices we are already doing to tend to our boundaries and spiritual care.

Through different exercises we will explore: how does my body need spiritual care? Where do I gain my life source/ my energy/ renewal from? What deities, gods, beings from your ancestral practices/religion/cultures show up for you?
When so many of our Indigenous, homeland, ancestral practices have been taken from us because of colonization, displacement, diaspora & more let’s gather and create some magic & feel into reconnection.
All BIPoC are welcome, even if these ideas/practices are new /unfamiliar to you. You are welcome if you have a curiosity, want some tools to support yourself, have a connection to the elements and something bigger than yourself.

About your instructor:

Jotika (she/her/hers) is a Queer, Disabled, cis, Femme, witch. Her people come from Northern India by way of Indentureship to Fiji. She is a settler on the lands she lives, the unceded, un- surrendered, stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Indigenous people. She is recovering and healing from being raised Catholic and is reconnecting/rediscovering her ancestral lineages of Hinduism, through a decolonized and anti caste lens.

She is an Interdisciplinary Artist, a Community Organizer, and an Expressive Arts Therapist. She is deeply passionate about the arts as a profound and powerful tool to support a coming back into our bodies and supporting us to process our experiences.
