No matter the type of business you operate, your intellectual property (IP) is likely one of your most valuable assets. In this workshop, we will explore the various types of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. You will gain insights into when each form of protection is appropriate and how to leverage them to safeguard your business and innovations effectively.
About the Presenter
Ken Malone is the co-founder of Early Charm, a venture studio that for over a decade has focused on transforming university inventions into successful commercial products. Ken serves on multiple advisory boards, including the Investment Committee of Innovation Work’s Ignite Capital Fund, Coppin State University’s Polymer Program Industrial Advisory Board, and the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business Advisory Board. He regularly mentors entrepreneurs at institutions such as the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), the University of Baltimore, and through programs like Open Works, Novella Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Department of Energy’s SBIR initiative. Ken holds a PhD in Polymer Science and a BS in Biochemistry, with over a decade of experience in the heavy chemicals and plastics industry, where he specialized in manufacturing, marketing, product development, and mergers & acquisitions.
