What to expect on the walk:
Join us for our summer adventure with our latest foraging excursion installment! Uncover the fruits of our 'urban jungle' with expert guide and clinical Herbalist, Journei Bimwala. Discover the art of foraging by identifying between the edible and the medicinal as well as tapping into the timeless lessons during our hottest season.
Summer is alive and well and nature is basking in its glory! Join us as we take a closer look at the magical properties of these blooming phases of plants. Learn how to harvest and craft with the treasures that nature can bring us. Unveil for yourself what lies hidden in plain sight within this concrete jungle called New York City. Come reconnect yourselves to your ancestral roots by practicing the oldest relationship between humans and nature.

Itinerary:
Our adventure begins at The Alchemist's Kitchen Elixir Bar at 10am. Then at 10:30 we will all embark together on the subway via the F train to the '15 st Prospect Park' station. From there we will walk and explore the bounty that is Prospect Park!
If it is more convenient for you to meet us at the Park directly please reach out to to coordinate.
One might want to bring a knife and some type of foraging bag for collecting. We also recommend packing snacks, a lunch, and a water bottle!
This event is rain or shine. In the case of expected rain, make sure to bring ponchos or umbrellas!

Bio:
Journei Bimwala is a multifaceted individual, renowned as a Clinical Herbalist, Foraging Practitioner, Wilderness First Responder, Educator, Speaker, and Coach. Growing up in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, she learned to forage alongside her grandmother, and continued developing her skills in woods and meadows when she moved to France. She is CEO and founder of EachOneCarryOne, whose mission is to improve and sustain the health and wellness of Black families within the African Diaspora. Her passion for connecting people to nature is evident in her role as the New York Mycological Society community partnership coordinator. As a dedicated educator, Journei hosts courses on herbalism and foraging, providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to forge a deeper connection with the natural world. Recognized for her impactful contributions, Journei Bimwala has been featured in the New York Times for her pivotal role in fostering a stronger connection between people and nature. Through her diverse roles and initiatives, she strives to build a world where individuals not only appreciate the richness of nature but actively contribute to its preservation and well-being.
