About this Event
Russian disinformation does not stop at language barriers. As the war in Ukraine reshapes global alignments, Kremlin narratives increasingly circulate through Chinese-language media ecosystems — influencing how audiences in Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong, and diaspora communities understand Ukraine, the West, and democratic values.
Drawing on his experience as a Mandarin-English journalist working across media systems, Samuel Hui examines how Russian messaging is translated, amplified, and adapted for Chinese-speaking audiences. The discussion explores where narratives converge, where they diverge, and what this cross-linguistic information flow means for democratic resilience and global perception battles.
Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.
RSVP is recommended, and donations welcomed.
