PRSA of WNC presents special program on Ethical Use of AI, celebrates chapter’s 5th Anniversary
Join PRSA of WNC Thursday, Sept. 19, at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville for a special professional development event on the practical and ethical implications of AI on the communications profession. Keynoted by Mark Dvorak, APR, Fellow PRSA, the event will also feature a celebration of our chapter’s 5 year anniversary.
In “Promises and Pitfalls of AI for the Ethical PR Practitioner,” Dvorak will address how AI is changing the profession, how it can be problematic, and practical approaches to using AI creatively and strategically to fulfill job responsibilities and advance not only the organization, but the PR profession.
Attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments at 4 p.m., with the 5th Anniversary Recognition to start at 4:30 p.m., preceding Dvorak’s informative session.
Registration is $30 for PRSA members, $40 for non-members, and $15 for PRSSA students, and covers parking at the Arboretum.

Speaker Profile
For three decades, Mark has put powerful communications to work to improve lives and transform communities. He currently splits his time between Golin (formerly Golin Harris), where he has worked for 17 years and formerly led the Atlanta office, and his consultancy, Mark Dvorak & Co.
Earlier, Mark served as CMO at United Way of Greater Atlanta — the nation’s third largest and most innovative — where he launched 2-1-1, the nation’s three-digit telephone service for people who need help or want to help others.
A career-long member of the Public Relations Society of America, Mark chairs the national organization’s Board of Ethics and Professional Standards (BEPS) and co-authored “Promise and Pitfalls, the Ethical Use of AI for Public Relations Practitioners,” which bases the practical and ethical challenges of AI on the PRSA Code of Ethics. He contributed to the creation of Voices4Everyone, served on the Advocacy Committee and Universal Accreditation Board and co-chaired ICON in 2015. Mark is a past president of his home Georgia Chapter and a member of its Order of the Phoenix. He is a 2018 graduate and former board member of Leadership Atlanta.
