Admission for the Lafayette performance is $20, with free entry for all current UL students, faculty, and staff. Admission to the New Orleans concert is free and open to the public.
From a beatbox flute rendition of “Inspector Gadget” to a Bourrée inspired by J.S. Bach and Jethro Tull, audiences can expect an unforgettable fusion of classical virtuosity and contemporary flair.

Founded in the 1940s, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Symphony Orchestra has long been a cornerstone of the region’s musical and cultural life. The ensemble brings together talented UL Lafayette students and skilled instrumentalists from the surrounding community, creating a dynamic blend of youthful energy and seasoned artistry. This collaboration fosters a unique, welcoming, and inspiring musical environment for performers and audiences alike.
Each year, the UL Symphony presents a diverse array of performances, including the Halloween Concert, Christmas Concert, Student Soloists Concert, and the annual String Day Performance (March 7, 2026), where high school students from across Louisiana perform side by side with the orchestra. The ensemble is also active in a variety of collaborative projects, performing with the UL Opera, dance productions, and distinguished guest artists.
Notable guest performers have included Project Trio, The Turtle Island Quartet, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, and BeauSoleil, among other acclaimed and Grammy Award–winning artists. Michael Blaney has conducted the UL Symphony for the past 30 years.
