About this Event
This December, join the for exclusive, tuition-free* in-person training sessions focused on increasing your capacity to support English learners’ language and literacy development! Based on our federally funded National Professional Development Program, , the goal of this FREE, special institute is to provide the guiding content knowledge and build the skills that school leaders, administrators, coaches, and teachers need for evidence-based, instructional decision making and a design for PLC sessions that work for the educators and English Learners (ELs) in their district. , Professional Learning for Educators working with the to improve outcomes for English Learners (ELs), is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) consisting of monthly professional development sessions to support educators in increasing their capacity to support English learners’ language and literacy development. This free, multi-day professional learning event is here to support the professional growth of school administrators, coaches, and K-8 teachers. Take advantage of this opportunity to discover how you can continue your learning through monthly PLCs with your school team hosted by the team or choose the option to facilitate and hold your own PLCs at your school site.
*The Project PLEDGE Institute is a tuition-free institute with a materials fee of $50 per participant. Please note that each participant is responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

Project PLEDGE Participation Benefits
- Participating administrators, coaches, and teachers will receive ongoing, embedded support each month to ensure the evidence-based PLEDGE practices are implemented with fidelity.
- All participants who complete the program will receive a micro-credential digital badge in partnership with the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE).
- EL parents and caregivers will receive training to support the language and literacy development of their children.
- ALL at no cost to participants or districts!

Lee Kappes, Ed.D.
CEO & Project PLEDGE Director, The Danielson Group
Lee’s career in education cuts across practice and policy at all levels of the education sector. In her 18 years as a classroom teacher, Lee lived out her belief that all students deserve highly-effective teachers. She went on to serve as a union president, staff developer, school leader, coach, and mentor, culminating in a position as a senior academic leader in an urban school district.Not one to turn away from a complex problem, Lee facilitated a cross-grade level committee of teacher leaders and central office staff to redesign the district’s assessment program for grades K-2 from a grade-based approach to a student-centered, artifact-based portfolio system.Lee holds a BS in Elementary and Special Education from College Misericordia, MA in Educational Technology from Long Island University, Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Management and Policy from Seton Hall University.
Shirley R. Hall
Co-Principal Investigator, The Danielson Group
When asked to oversee the pilot of The Framework for Teaching for the School District of Philadelphia, Shirley leveraged her experience as an elementary teacher, teacher of the blind and visually impaired, elementary principal, and central office administrator. Up for the challenge, her work resulted in the training of more than 200 principals and peer observers. Her understanding of and effective use of the Framework has continued as she trains educators in the United States and abroad, specializing in teacher practice, school leadership and formative assessment of student learning. Shirley holds a BS in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Temple University; MA in Elementary Education from Antioch University; Masters of Education in Education of the Blind and Visually Impaired from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry; and a Certification in Elementary Educational Administration from Pennsylvania State University.
Jobi B. Lawrence, Ed.D.
Content Expert & Facilitator, KCR2 Educational Consulting
Dr. Jobi Lawrence has almost three decades of experience working across all levels in the field of education and as a parent to three grown adult children. From her early career at the local level as a classroom teacher, to serving as the Title III Director at a state education agency, to her role at the national level as the Director for the National Clearinghouse of English Language Acquisition (NCELA) to her current role as the Director of Product Development and Strategic Partnerships for UCLA-CRESST, (supporting ELPA21) she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with students and families. Dr. Lawrence has developed and delivered professional development, publications, guidance documents, and toolkits for use with a variety of education stakeholders to meet the needs of diverse students and their families. She has conducted program evaluations in more than 300 (urban, suburban, and rural) schools across the country over the past 30 years.

The Danielson Group is not responsible for expenses you may incur for a cancelled or postponed event.
