Project Playhouse 2026

Project Playhouse is one of Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity's most exciting and impactful annual community events. While children receive beautifully designed custom playhouses, the event is about so much more than building a place to play—it's about inspiring hope, strengthening our community, and supporting the mission of providing safe, attainable housing opportunities for families throughout Central Texas.
Each sponsored playhouse represents the collaboration of local businesses, organizations, churches, schools, and community groups coming together to make a lasting difference. Teams design, build, paint, and decorate unique playhouses before presenting them to carefully selected local children and families who otherwise may never have the opportunity to own one.
For a child, a playhouse is more than a backyard structure. It's a castle, a fire station, a bakery, a library, a spaceship, or whatever their imagination dreams it can become. It provides a safe place to learn, explore, create memories, and begin to understand the importance of having a place of their own. Through imaginative play, children develop creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, communication skills, and social development while creating meaningful memories with family and friends.
Our Mission
Project Playhouse has two equally important goals:
Provide deserving children with a safe, imaginative place to play and grow.
Raise critical funds that allow Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity to continue building homes, repairing homes, and helping families achieve safe, attainable homeownership throughout our community.
Every sponsorship directly supports Habitat's housing programs while simultaneously creating an unforgettable experience for a local child.
How the Event Works
Leading up to the event, businesses, civic organizations, schools, churches, and community groups register as sponsors. Each sponsor receives a playhouse kit and forms a volunteer team to bring their vision to life.
On build day, dozens of teams gather in one location where the atmosphere is filled with creativity, teamwork, and friendly competition. Throughout the day, volunteers:
Assemble their playhouse.
Paint and decorate it with a unique theme.
Add creative details that make every playhouse one-of-a-kind.
Compete for awards recognizing craftsmanship, creativity, and overall design.
Throughout the event, community members are invited to attend, meet the builders, vote for their favorite designs (where applicable), and celebrate the incredible partnerships that make Project Playhouse possible.
At the conclusion of the event, recipient families are invited to celebrate as the completed playhouses are presented to their children. It's an emotional and unforgettable moment as volunteers witness firsthand the joy their efforts have created.
Become a Sponsor

As a sponsor, your organization will:
Demonstrate a commitment to strengthening local families and neighborhoods.
Build camaraderie through a fun, hands-on volunteer experience.
Receive recognition through event marketing, social media, and community outreach.
Help raise funds that directly support Habitat's mission of creating pathways to attainable homeownership.
Create lasting memories for a deserving child and family while making a meaningful impact across Central Texas.
Whether you're a small business, large corporation, church, civic club, school, or group of friends, there's a sponsorship opportunity for you. Your support doesn't simply build a playhouse—it helps build brighter futures.
Apply to Receive a Playhouse
Families with young children are invited to apply to become Project Playhouse recipients.
Recipients are selected through an application process that considers family circumstances, community impact, and the opportunity for the playhouse to bring lasting joy to a child. There is no cost to receive a playhouse.
If your family—or a family you know—could benefit from receiving a Project Playhouse, we encourage you to apply. Every application is carefully reviewed, and selected families will be contacted prior to the event.

Project Playhouse is where generosity meets imagination. Every hammer swung, every brushstroke painted, and every volunteer who gives their time helps build more than a playhouse—they help build hope.
Whether you become a sponsor, volunteer, attend the event, or apply to receive a playhouse, you'll be part of something far greater than a single day of building. You'll be helping Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity continue its mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope through housing solutions, homeownership, and critical home repairs.
Together, we can build brighter futures—one playhouse at a time.
