Project H.E.A.R.T (Health Evaluation and Resilience Training) is a long-term national initiative by the Bangladesh Medical Students' Society (BMSS), under its Healthy Lifestyle and Non-Communicable Diseases program. Designed to address the growing burden of cardiovascular disease among Bangladesh's future healthcare workforce, Project H.E.A.R.T operates across multiple phases, bringing together education, skill-building, data collection, and health promotion under one sustained effort.
With cardiovascular diseases responsible for an estimated 30% of all NCD-related deaths in Bangladesh, the need to embed preventive cardiology thinking into medical education has never been more urgent. Project H.E.A.R.T is built on the conviction that this change must start with medical students themselves, as both future clinicians and as individuals living with the very risk factors they will one day treat.
About This Event
This workshop is being held as part of Project H.E.A.R.T. It is a one-day, hands-on preventive cardiology workshop open to medical students across Bangladesh, covering three clinical domains that remain almost entirely absent from the standard MBBS curriculum in any practical capacity.
📅 26th June, 2026
🕗 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
📍 Will be announced later
Workshop Structure
The workshop follows a rotational session model. All 100 participants are divided into three cohorts and rotate through every expert-led station across the day, ensuring complete exposure to all three preventive cardiology domains.
• Risk Factors and Prevention of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) in Young Patients
• Basics and Clinical Applications of Echocardiography
• Hypertension Management-role of Therapeutics and Lifestyle Modification, Management of Cardiovascular Emergencies
Closing: H.E.A.R.T Quiz Championship
The day closes with an individual quiz competition, 20 questions spanning all three sessions. Each participant answers independently, with scores tallied live and the top performers recognised before certificate distribution.
Participants who attend all three rotations receive a Certificate of Participation. Those who score 75% or above on the individual quiz receive a Certificate of Competency.
Who Should Attend
- 3rd to 5th year MBBS students
- Interns and junior doctors
- Medical students with an interest in cardiology, internal medicine, or preventive health
Expected Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained practical skills in BP measurement and cardiovascular risk stratification, systematic ECG reading with a preventive lens, and foundational echo image interpretation, skills that are largely absent from standard Bangladeshi medical training, delivered as part of a broader initiative committed to changing that over the long term.
