About this Event
Project Echo Restorative Community Healing Series: Session 1
Liberation-Centered Practice: Reframing Language & Perspectives
Join us for a reflective and engaging session exploring how language, frameworks, and dominant narratives shape the way we provide care—and how we can shift toward more culturally responsive, liberation-centered approaches.
This gathering is part of the Project Echo Fellowship: Eliminating Racism in Substance Use & Community Care, with a focus on strengthening culturally competent care in our communities.
Together, we will examine how commonly used language can reinforce harm, disconnect, or control, and explore ways to reframe our perspectives in ways that honor lived experience, identity, and community wisdom.
This space is designed to be thoughtful, grounded, and accessible—centering both personal reflection and collective learning.
Panel & Healing Components
This session will feature a panel exploring four interconnected components of holistic healing:
Mind
Facilitated by Marlee James, LPCC, Founder of Reviving Roots Therapy & Wellness
Marlee is a mental health therapist, certified trauma professional, and consultant whose work centers intergenerational trauma, social justice, and relational-cultural approaches. Her work is deeply informed by her studies at the Institute for the Study and Promotion of Race and Culture at Boston College, and her lived commitment to building spaces where Black communities are truly supported in practice—not just in words.
Movement (External Body)
Facilitated by Jamal James, Retired Professional Boxer
Jamal is a south Minneapolis native and former WBA welterweight champion of the world. Trained at the Circle of Discipline, his work is rooted in discipline, community, and mentorship. Beyond the ring, he serves as a youth advocate, mentor, and community organizer, with a strong commitment to Black wellness and collective thriving.
Nutrition (Internal Body)
Facilitated by Daria Frazier, Owner of Rooted Healing
Daria is the owner of Rooted Healing, where her work centers nourishment, healing, and connection to the body. Her approach invites a deeper understanding of how food, care, and community intersect as part of holistic wellness.
Spirituality
Facilitated by Camille Caster-Cyprian (she/they), Founder of Centered Spaces Healing & Wellness
Camille is a healing justice practitioner and community-rooted entrepreneur with nearly 20 years of experience in social change work. Their work focuses on creating spaces of communal care and building systems rooted in equity and transformation. Camille is also a certified coach, mind-body medicine facilitator, and energy-work practitioner, bringing a deeply integrative approach to healing and spirituality.
