The UW-Eau Claire Music and Theatre Arts Department's noteworthy range of degree programs, supportive faculty, and plentiful performance opportunities will give you the experience needed to tackle your future endeavors and launch you into a career you'll love!To be a Music major, Music minor, or Musical Theatre major at UW-Eau Claire, you will need to successfully complete a music audition and be accepted into an applied studio, which is a group of musicians who study under one professor. Our theatre majors (other than musical theatre), theatre minors, and certificate programs do not require an audition and may be declared at any time.

Audition Dates for Acceptance in 2026-27
-November 8, 2025 (wind, brass, & percussion only)
-January 21, 2026
-February 7, 2026
-March 7, 2026
*Program auditions (auditions to become a music major/minor) are separate from ensemble auditions, which are available to all Blugolds seeking to be in a band, choir, or orchestra.
Program auditions take place in the year or semester prior to your first semester here; most students audition in the spring (January-March) for entrance in the following fall semester. Your program audition addresses three important areas:
-Your admission acceptance as a major or minor
-Your piano placement exam
-Scholarship consideration
Registration for any given audition date closes two weeks prior to the audition - please be sure to register for your audition by this deadline so that we can guarantee you a spot.
