Primarily set in the early ‘60s in the middle of the New York folk music scene, the film traces the then unknown 19-year-old from obscurity, through his meteoric rise as the preeminent folk singer of the day, and culminating in his rock and roll “coming out” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. Featuring the ever versatile Chalamet actually playing guitar and singing Dylan’s iconic tunes. Also with Elle Fanning and Edward Norton.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿:Professor Wilentz is the Author of the book BOB DYLAN IN AMERICA, which is a unique look at Dylan’s place in American cultural history through unprecedented access to Dylan’s studio tapes, recording notes, and rare photographs. Wilentz discovered Bob Dylan’s music as a teenager growing up in Greenwich Village. Now, almost half a century later, he revisits Dylan’s work with the skills of an eminent American historian as well as the passion of a fan.
