Huntingdon Drama Club's forthcoming production is BAZAAR AND RUMMAGE, a comedy-drama by Sue Townsend, the well-known author of the Adrian Mole series.
This humorous and heartfelt play is a poignant exploration of vulnerability, agoraphobia and mental health as a group of agoraphobics host a bazaar and rummage sale at a church in order to combat their condition. Under the guidance of social worker Fliss and ex-agoraphobic Gwenda, three ladies - Katrina, Margaret and Bell Bell - attempt to bond over their shared anxieties whilst they prepare for the sale.
Townsend's play carefully balances humour and pathos as we deviate between personality clashes and expressions of genuine connection; a journey in which the roots of the characters' fears are exposed and an understanding of how their circumstances came to this point.
BAZAAR AND RUMMAGE will run at The Commemoration Hall (39 High Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3AQ) from Wednesday 15th July to Saturday 18th July. On Saturday 18th July, there are TWO performances; a matinee beginning at 2.30 pm and an evening show beginning at 7.30 pm.
Tickets cost £15 (£13 concessions) and can be booked at https://huntingdondramaclub.com/tickets/ or purchased at The Commemoration Hall Visitor Centre (cash only.)
