Most will never think about the people who helped make that possible, because somewhere tonight, beyond the shoreline, someone is still awake at sea, someone is missing another birthday, another anniversary, another school recital, another dinner table with an empty chair waiting for them back home.
And still, the ships keep moving. Food arrives, medicine arrives, fuel arrives. The world keeps turning quietly on the backs of people most of us will never meet.
This year, the message is simple, “Carrying world trade. Carrying the risks”, because behind global trade are human beings carrying more than cargo. They carry distance, fatigue, pressure, isolation and sometimes, the unbearable feeling of watching life continue without them from thousands of miles away.
At Mission to Seafarers, we believe recognition matters, because after weeks, sometimes months at sea, a warm room stops feeling small. A familiar voice matters, a prayer matters, being welcomed matters, being remembered matters.
This June, we want you to join us and take a moment to recognize the people helping move the goods that keep everyday life going, not just for what they transport, but for what they sacrifice while doing it.
