Private Screening of the New Film, "Natalie & Sam: Babbitt Everlasting"
About this Event
From the Filmmaker:
This has been a very unique and special journey for me — much more expansive and layered than I could ever have imagined. It has helped me grieve, shed light on our flawed and fabulous family, and brought us closer in many ways. Most unexpectedly, I’ve gotten to know my Father, really, for the first time.
In 2015, as my mother’s Alzheimer’s was slowly “erasing” her, Francine and I began filming and interviewing my parents. When she suddenly passed in 2016, I used that footage to create a short memorial film. The experience was magical — all the things I already do, music, editing, animation, even psychotherapy, seemed to come together.
The film became a kind of Möbius strip — as much about my parents as it is an unapologetic, living continuation of them.
They were an attitude: freedom of movement, freedom of inquiry, and a cheerful, intellectual and creative why-the-hell-not bravado.
I want to carry that spirit forward.
