This is not a group class. This is your 1:1 session, your project, your pace. Artful Moment offers private one-on-one metalsmithing and jewelry making lessons in Los Angeles, California, fully personalized instruction designed around exactly what you want to make and learn. Whether you are picking up a torch for the first time or returning to a craft you have always wanted to explore more deeply, every session is built around your vision, your skill level, and your goals. With over 10 years of professional metalsmithing teaching expertise, Tracey Nelsen guides students through real jewelry fabrication from start to finish, the same hands-on, technique-driven instruction she has delivered to hundreds of students across Los Angeles.
What you can work on:
Ring making and soldering, stacking ring fabrication, earring and pendant design, metal texturing and finishing, custom project work you bring to the session, and home studio setup recommendations. If you have a piece in mind — bring a photo, a sketch, or just an idea. Sessions are designed to bring your jewelry vision to life.

Students interested in setting up a home jewelry studio and wanting expert guidance on tools, torch setup, safety, and sourcing materials before investing in equipment.
Home studio setup support:
Planning to build your own jewelry studio at home? Tracey can walk you through everything you need: recommended tools, soldering torch setup, safety essentials, and where to source materials o you leave with a clear, actionable plan and the confidence to keep making on your own. Soldering kits are available for purchase at your session, so you can take your setup home the same day and start practicing immediately.
Age and waiver policy:
Open to all skill levels, ages 14 and up. Students ages 14-17 are welcome with signed parental permission and a completed liability waiver required prior to the session.
Session details:
1 hour time slots | $75 per hour | Every 4th Saturday | Marina Del Ray, CA
All tools & soldering setup provided for in-session use.
Soldering kits available for purchase to take home.
Booking is limited to ensure every student receives focused, personalized attention.
Once your session is booked, confirmation email will link a calendar timeslot for a 30 minute call with Tracey to understand your metalsmithing goals. Metal for projects must be purchased by students prior to session date; Tracey can assist with this during the consult call. About Artful Moment:
Tracey Nelsen, Founder & CEO of Artful Moment, explores the intersection of natural elements and traditional craft through industrial arts. She believes creating with your hands sparks brainpower, focus, and emotional resilience. Tracey holds a B.A. in Art from the University of Minnesota and has exhibited work in Minnesota, NYC, and the Bay Area. She’s also contributed to large-scale projects like Pulse with the Flaming Lotus Girls at Burning Man.
