PRIS Act Foundations for AI Integration
About this Event
WA's privacy framework changed, and AI projects feel it first.
The Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) brings Information Privacy Principles to WA public sector entities and their contracted service providers including IPP 10 obligations that commenced 1 July 2026 for personal information collected on or after that date, with the notifiable information breach scheme following on 1 January 2027. This half-day orientation puts the framework in plain English and connects it to real AI-integration decisions.
Who this is for:
WA state and local government officers and contracted service providers handling personal information.
What you will do:
The session runs as three 55-minute modules:
- WA's Privacy Framework in Plain English the Act, the regulator (the WA Office of the Information Commissioner), the commencement dates and who is bound.
- The IPPs Meet AI: Collection to Deletion walk the information lifecycle and mark where AI use raises each principle.
- Case Clinic: Safe and Unsafe Information Flows sort realistic information flows into acceptable and unacceptable, and defend your sorting.
- Your PRIS-Readiness Action List leave with a dated action list for your role.
What you will leave with:
A plain-English PRIS orientation map, an information-lifecycle canvas, a completed safe/unsafe flow sort record, and a PRIS-readiness action list.
