Printing with The Sun - Cyanotype Workshop
About this Event
Taught by local artist and plant wonder enthusiast Raechel Velouria aka Omebi. Raechel has many creative passions including illustration, animation, textiles, zines, experimental print and alternative photography. She often integrates earthly elements in her art and naturally fell in love with the cyanotype, a creative magic she has been experimenting with for 4 years and eager to share with others.
We will begin with a short intro to sun printing and then take a short walk on the farm to forage for plant materials that we will use in our cyanotypes. Once we gather back from our foraging walk, we will start composing our cyanotype designs. When ready, we will go through the exposure process using the sun, then the final rinse to reveal our finished sun print.
All materials will be provided including pre-coated cyanotype paper. There will be no chemical mixing in this workshop to keep it kid safe. Everyone will take home with them their own 5"x7" cyanotype prints. We will be spending some short time outdoors in the sun, so dress accordingly in clothing you don't mind getting a bit messy in. Bring sunscreen and water/snacks. For a smooth flow of the workshop that has a limited time frame, it is highly encouraged that all children attending under the age of 9 be accompanied by an adult, at no additional cost.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed with the future date to be announced.
