About this Event
Join EnviroVoters, Friends of the Desert Mountains, CalWild, and the Protect California Deserts Coalition for this unforgettable ROAD TRIP!
EnviroVoters, Friends of the Desert Mountains, and CalWild are coming together to host Pride Outside: Chuckwalla-Palooza! Come with us to see the beauty of the proposed Chuckwalla National Monument and learn about this ecologically, culturally, and historically important area. We'll talk about why access to the outdoors is important to everyone, including the LGBTQ+ community, call on President Biden to establish Chuckwalla National Monument, and watch performances from our favorite local drag stars! Plus, an optional 30-minute guided walking tour to explore the desert.
If you would like to participate on a walking tour, wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeves/pants to defend against cacti. You may also bring an outside folding chair if you would instead like to listen to our storytellers and enjoy the desert views.
Transportation provided from Cathedral City and Coachella. Limited capacity: reserve your seat now!

About Chuckwalla
The Protect California Deserts Coalition is working to designate Chuckwalla National Monument in the California Desert. A national monument would protect 627,000 acres just south of Joshua Tree National Park, stretching from the Coachella Valley region in the west to the Colorado River in the east.
Designating the Chuckwalla National Monument will protect sacred lands for Indigenous Tribes, ensure more equitable access to nature for residents of the ECV, and preserve iconic species like the chuckwalla lizard, desert tortoise, desert bighorn sheep, and native plants.
About EnviroVoters
California Environmental Voters is a nonprofit organization that exists at the crossroads of the environment and politics. Since 1972, we have a proven record of winning elections and passing environmental policies in Sacramento and DC.
We believe the climate crisis is here and that this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but is lacking the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary.
EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change.
It is only through the support of our private organizational and individual donors that EnviroVoters can execute this critical mission. Your support will allow us to make progress towards our vision of resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
