Calling all neighbourinos! 📣 🌈❤️✨️
Come join us to celebrate pride month in Esquimalt!
Introducing "Pride in the Park" a family friendly queer picnic!
LGBTQ2+, Allies and Friends all warmly welcomed ✨️🌈❤️
Pack up your picnic baskets, grab your favourite blanket or folding chair and put on your very best picnicking clothes - it's time to get together!
Come on down to drag story hour under the cool canopies of the oak trees in Memorial Park. Featuring the fabulous Perci Flage from the Stashes to Lashes Collective. This family centered event is a great way to bring joy to your Saturday afternoon 🥰
Bring your kids down to listen to stories about embracing who you are and afterwards, join Perci in a fun dance a- long to Danny Go!
Please consider biking, bussing or walking as public parking in Esquimalt is limited.
We can't wait to see all your lovely faces!
EMA lives, loves and cares for our neighbourhood on the occupied, unceeded and ancestral lands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen)—specifically the Songhees and Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) Nations—and the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples. We choose to continually strive for decolonized and reciprocal relationship building. We recognize our upmost personal responsibility to walking on these lands in a good way.
EMA also wants to emphasize that while pride is a time to celebrate our beautiful diversity, it is first and foremost a movement created by and for LGBTQ2+ people to push for an end to oppressive and hateful systemic violence. We are Queer as in free Palestine. Trans lives matter. Black lives matter. Indigenous lives matter. Queer as in a demand to global liberation for queer people here and everywhere.
And we emphasize this through acts of JOY and CELEBRATION!
We can't wait to see you and yours 💓🌈💓
