Pride All Summer Long: Summer Dance Party!

Upstate Pride & GFD are collaborating to bring you a summer fun dance to celebrate “Pride All Summer Long”!
🌈 Pride doesn’t end after June, and we want to invite our local Queer community to come dance the night away with us! Many of us haven’t had the joy of learning to dance in a place where we are not just tolerated, but wanted. This event, and all of our events, will center around connecting with other people in a fun and friendly way. You’ll dance whatever role you want, with whoever you want without standard gendered “role” expectations getting in the way. You’ll get to learn in an environment that uses de-gendered language, and dance with folks who have walked a similar path to finding the feeling of home not only on our dance floor, but in their bodies.
☀️ This event is “summer fun” themed, so you are invited to welcome summer with the colorful summer fits of your choosing.

General Event Info
Fusion is a social dance, with the emphasis on social. Fusion is centered around connection, improvisation, and creativity. That means there’s lots of things we can learn to grow our dance experience, but also lots of room to goof around and play. That means no pressure to “get it right” or big mistakes that K*ll the vibe. The goal is to find your people, find a place to belong, have fun, and find out what movement means to you.
Fusion is a dance that draws from a lot of other styles and influences, and we’ll teach you about how we are influenced by those dances and honor their cultures.
Cost:
- Sliding Scale - $10-$20
- Discounted or free tickets by working 20/40/60 minutes with our check in desk, set up, or clean up. Sign-ups here: https://signup.com/go/RQQwEWq
Lessons (8p - 9p)
For our intro lessons we focus on how to “survive and thrive” on your first night. We focus on the things you’re likely to encounter on the dance floor, and how to respond to things you don’t know yet in an easy way. Lessons are full of laughing and practical solutions to getting you moving and having a good time!
For experienced folks, we offer new advancement classes every month with a variety of subjects and teachers.
Culture:
Our dance centers inclusion, for us that means:
- You don’t need to bring a dance partner, most people dance with everyone.
- Experienced dancers seek out new folks, because we’re excited to see someone fall in love with dancing the way we have.
- You’re welcome to dance (or not) with anyone you want, there’s no default to gendered roles or rules.
- Our org team has folks who are neurodivergent, queer, and physically disabled on it as well as people from other walks of life. That means our event structure is created by the experiences of people who’ve struggled with barriers between themselves and the places they want to be. We find ways to support, celebrate, and dance as people with many different backgrounds!

Music (9p - 1a)
We love variety, you’ll hear anything we can dream up that is danceable. From pop hits, throwbacks that won’t quit, to music from different styles of dance like Blues, WCS, and Latin-inspired music.
You’ll Need:
- Water bottle to refill at our water station (save the planet yall)
- Snacks if you’re feeling munchy while you move
- Shoes that make sense to move in and don’t grip the floor too hard. (Think Toms, not flip flops)
- Clothes that are practical to move in. People dress up, people dress down, whatever feels fun for them.
